BAIRN
Bairn is a baby boy, ceramic art doll. He has a turquoise blue glaze face and is swaddled in white. He has a finely woven bronze wire net holding him. He comes with the glass plate of a baby's face as a background.
When I made him, I was thinking of the long sea voyage to Australia back in colonial times. Many convict women from the British Isles had to bury their tiny babies at sea due to the appalling conditions on board ship. His blue head, white body and wire net basket would suit a beach themed decor or baby boy's nursery.
The gold and silver backed plate of the baby's face has been fused permanently in a kiln. There is a small chip on the bottom of the glass plate. 'Bairn' looks sweet propped on your book shelf or side table. size 5 1/2 inches / 14 cm long. The glass behind is 10" x 7" (25 x 18cm).
A precious keepsake.
