AUSPICIOUS
I designed and made this set of 4 plates with a sophisticated cobalt blue glaze texture. The embossed surfaces are stylized Asian patterns of water, thunder, snow and clouds. This is an exclusive and unique set of four plates. East meets West in a chic take on modern tableware.
I designed 4 different patterns during an artist residency in Jingdezhen, China. I carved lino and pressed the clay into the lino cut to make the various patterns. The patterns are contemporary versions of ancient and auspicious designs. It is the perfect gift for for someone who loves contemporary Asian design.
