Red Fang Cloud is a ceramic wall mounted sculpture with rich, blood red embossed clouds as surface design. The stylized Chinese clouds are deemed to be auspicious in Chinese culture. 12 x 11 inches. I worked as an artist-in-residence at the birth place of porcelain in Jingdezhen, China. Part of the residency included researching auspicious aspects and symbols within Chinese culture. I was drawn to the recurring use of clouds as both background and metaphor. I went on to make a series of cloud based sculptures as part of an exhibition called 'The Dragon's Back'.
