BEEBEE
Beebee is a unique, handmade ceramic and mixed media figurine. The sculpture has a primitive fired, buff clay finish. Beebee is wrapped in tea dyed muslin and two types of cotton string. I hand cut some wooden beads for decoration using gum tree sticks from my garden. 8 inches high.
When I made the sculpture I was thinking of Egyptian mummified cats as well as the big pollen baskets on the hind legs of bees. It's also a bit like fetish dolls made in Cameroon in the 1970s. The figurine is made with found objects reflecting resourcefulness and ethnic style.
The terracotta figurine and primitive dress make it ideal for bohemian interiors. Or add the sculpture to your tribal collection. The figurine will add texture to a neutral space. Beebee looks charming standing on books or can sit on your coffee table or bedside.
