PANOPTICON
This ceramic sculpture is seven raku terracotta figurines on a rust colored base. The ceramic male nudes have pale purple masks and are loosely mounted on a curved plinth. The plinth has pointed studs on the inside and a rough stucco finish on the outside. 7.5 inches high.
The sculpture is called 'Panopticon' and is related to the system of surveillance used in the 19th century in jailhouses. The colors of the sculpture are based on the antique colors of old ceramic bricks and rusty iron.
