MUD WASP
This ceramic wall art has an abstract textural look. The wall hanging sculpture has an embossed pattern of stripes and squiggles together with mud wasp nests. I used found objects from my kitchen and studio to make the texture. The striped elements are from rolled paper. The swirling patterns are from lino cuts. I added mud wasp nests collected from my garden. I attached them to the clay plaque prior to firing it. The piece was handmade in terracotta clay with slips and glazes in warm browns, grays, green and blue palette. It has a glossy finish.
